Sorry you don't like it. But the fact is, homosexuality is a mindset that would destroy the human race, if left unchecked. And the dislike of it, is the only force that has checked it... until now.
Another member of the list has this as one of his random quotes that appear at the end of his posts, so I don't have any more information about what this person was saying. Still, it caused me to think a bit about why anyone would feel that way.
The only reason that I can come up with is that there is an assumption that men don't like women. The only reason men marry women is that homosexuality is "disliked" and they have to have somewhere to stick their penises. Since they can't have their preferred partners because of social stigma, they settle for the lesser vessel. They're jealous of those who have the audacity to not care about social stigma and can have the kind of sex that all men secretly desire.
Women, of course, don't really matter in all this, but when men all start sleeping with other men, the only people for women to sleep with will be other women. And then there will be no more people. I have actually read claims that the "liberal agenda" is to eliminate the human race altogether.
Does any of this seem to coincide with the underlying motivation that anyone else has seen?

I think dearest Deni, that you give the other side too much credit in the "thinking" department. And that's probably because you hail from a part of the country where people actually DO think. LOL!
Believe me, here in Oklahoma the issue doesn't EVEN go that deeply. Here it's about "what the Bible says". The Bible says it's an abomination and what's even MORE important is that the preacher says that the Bible says it's an abomination so it must be true.
Never mind that in the very same list where it says lists homosexuality as an abomination, it also lists the wearing of mixed fibers, the eating of pork and shellfish, and being in the same room with a woman who's on her period as abominations.
Funny how easy it is to "pick-and-choose" your abominations, isn't it?
LOL!!
Maybe I'm being a bit on the Freudian side. It's all unconscious.
But I wonder about those folks way back in the Bible times who decided that it was an abomination. I don't usually do armchair psychiatry on people I don't know, but these people have been dead for a very long time, so I don't think they'd mind. ;-)
Well, they made more sense in the context of ancient Hebrew culture, when these laws were given to a group of nomadic tribes who were trying grow their population, cut back on disease, and identify themselves culturally, but in the context of the current world they're all extremely outdated.
"Every sperm is sacred,
Every sperm is great;
When a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate."
LOL!!!
That's it, EXACTLY!
The Hebrews functioned under the belief that a man only had "so much to give", and that once it was all used up, it was gone. That's why masturbation was against the law as well, (the spilling of one's seed on the ground). If you wasted your seed in a man or wasted it by spilling it on the ground, you weren't making good use of it by putting it in a place where it did its job.
The Hebrews were a small, nomadic, group of desert tribes who desperately needed to increase their population. At the time these laws were written down, the Hebrews were near extinction. So they make complete sense in that context.
LOL, Steph!!
Lynette, I agree about some of those laws making sense way back when (although the mixing fibers one is beyond me).
Of course, sapphism was never on the Levitical list of no-nos.
Whew!
The mixing of fibers was a matter of cultural identification. The Abramic tribes, (including the Arabs), did not mix sheep's wool goat hair or linen with muslin as the Babylonians or Egyptians did in order to identify themselves as a unique and separate people.
I meant to say also, that the single fiber was the symbol of "one God", as the Abramic tribes were monotheistic.
I was just reading a website about the fiber thing. The writers, who appear to be knowledgeable, say that they really don't know the reason for it, except that there were some people who used a combination of wool and linen in their occult practices. I thought the prohbition was any animal fiber with any plant fiber, but they say it's only wool and linen that is a problem. I have some wool/hemp yarn that I was wondering about. Interesting from an historical perspective.
The reason sapphism didn't make the list was because women didn't waste seed when they engaged in sexual pleasure with one another. Remember that these tribes were polygamous, meaning one man could have many wives. Young virgins were encouraged to have sex with one another and with the older women so that they could learn how to please their husbands when they were married. They also had sex with one another for companionship and affection, as most of their social contact was limited to women.
